Instagram Video Download Not Working and What to Check
First identify whether the failure happened while checking the link, retrieving the source video, preparing the MP4 or saving it on your device. Those stages need different next steps.

Check the link and post type
Paste a complete HTTPS link to one public /p/ video post or /reel/ video. Profile URLs, Stories, Highlights and audio pages are unsupported here. Share-menu tracking parameters are removed when a supported input is normalized.
A /p/ address is not proof that the post contains a single video. Photo-only posts and carousels receive an unsupported-content result; repeating the same request does not convert them into a video.
A signed-in app uses a different access context
A post can open inside your Instagram app while remaining unavailable to the downloader’s source. Public availability can vary; a login prompt or generic failure alone does not establish that an account is private.
PrivPeek does not accept your Instagram password, account cookie or signed-in session. Explicitly private content is refused. An unavailable result is not replaced with a thumbnail pretending to be a video.
Read the failure shown by PrivPeek
“The source did not return an accessible video” means no usable video was returned for that request. It does not establish the exact reason. “Video retrieval is temporarily unavailable” describes a service failure, while a timeout means the video was not prepared within the allowed time.
A video above 50 MiB is outside this release’s file limit. The actual transfer is bounded even if the source does not declare a size. If it is interrupted, no finished file is offered by the tool.
Expired results and temporary limits
A prepared server result has a short lifetime. If it expires before the transfer starts, paste the original post link to prepare a fresh result. A temporary file address is not a permanent archive.
After a request-limit message, wait for the interval shown. Repeated clicks or extra tabs do not resolve the limit. Allow time for a temporary failure to clear before trying the original link again.
Prepared file versus saved file
The tool retrieves the MP4 into the browser and offers a preview and Download MP4 action only after that transfer finishes. The final save to your device is another step. Check the browser’s download list to confirm it completed.
On iPhone, check Files before assuming the video should be in Photos. On Android or desktop, locate the file through the browser’s download list or file manager. If the file exists but will not play, investigate compatibility rather than treating it as a missing download.
Report a repeated supported failure
Use PrivPeek’s published contact and include the page, browser/device, approximate time, visible message and last completed step. Supply a public source link through that support process only if needed.
Do not send passwords, cookies, private messages, API keys or signed download tokens. A technical report helps diagnose supported functionality; it cannot make private or removed content available.
