Save an Instagram Video on iPhone and Find It in Photos
If a video download completed but Photos is empty, first look in Safari’s Downloads list and the Downloads folder in Files. Downloading a file and adding it to Photos are separate steps.

Start with an individual video link
Copy the link to one public video post or Reel you have permission to save. A profile URL identifies an account rather than a file, and a /p/ link can also contain a photo or carousel.
Open the PrivPeek video downloader in Safari, paste the supported link and choose Download video. Keep the page open while the MP4 is prepared. Check the preview, filename and file size before selecting Download MP4. A ready preview means the file was prepared in the browser; the final save is still your next action.
Confirm the browser save
After choosing Download MP4, check Safari’s download list for the filename shown in the result. Browser settings and system prompts determine how the save completes. A click is not proof that the file reached your chosen destination.
- Open Safari’s Downloads list to check the completed save.
- Open Files, choose Browse and check Downloads in your configured location, such as iCloud Drive.
- Identify the intended MP4 by its filename and open it to check playback.
Files and Photos are different destinations
A video can exist in Files without appearing in your Photos library. If you want it in Photos, open the completed compatible video in Files, use Share and choose Save Video when that option is offered by your device. Menu labels and import support can vary.
If Save Video is unavailable, do not change the file extension to try to fix it. First check whether the completed file plays and whether your device can import its actual format. Keeping the video in Files is also a valid outcome.
When the file seems missing
If no save appears, check whether you selected the final Download MP4 action rather than only preparing the preview. If the transfer is interrupted, check connectivity and available storage before creating another request.
If no MP4 could be prepared at all, the problem happened before the device-save step. Read the retrieval message instead of searching Photos or assuming a public account has become private. If you opened the tool inside another app, opening it directly in Safari gives you a useful browser comparison.
Avoid duplicate requests
Find an existing completed save before requesting the same post again. The prepared file stays available in this page until you clear it or leave; reloading discards that browser copy. A later result must be prepared from the original post link.
Downloading or importing a file does not grant permission to repost it. Check creator permission before publishing someone else’s work.
